Hooly J Chan Full Band and Jessye DeSilva

About this show

Hooly J Chan Full Band and Jessye DeSilva Through music and puppetry Hooly J Chan and full band tell a love story for earthlings… transmitted from extraterrestrials… In this story we witness an earthling getting taken up into the beyond and coming back down again… A consciousness altering experience. The high of coming in contact with the aliens… of coming in contact with ourselves… of coming in contact with our earthly impact while we’re here… With special guest Jessye DeSilva Hooly J Chan is a story teller, singer songwriter and puppeteer based in the South Coast of Massachusetts. Co-founder of The Wicked Queer Puppet Theater, hooly creates musical and visual art to expand our imagination of what is possible. Contact High is hoolys 4th full length album. Their band includes woodwinds, strings, bass, guitars, and drums and together they take audience on a journey into the ethers! Contact High is a story about coming in deeper contact with ourselves, each other, our Earth and the beyond… Jessye DeSilva seamlessly blends theatrical pop elements with traditional folk and roots music to form her piano-driven alt-americana sound. She infuses hope into songs about religious alienation, mental health struggles, and societal injustice to create a uniquely queer and unholy ruckus. Jessye’s latest album Glitter Up the Dark was produced by Aaron Lee Tasjan and incorporates Eighties pop and Nineties alternative flourishes to the stately Americana and country-rock sounds of 2023’s Renovations and 2022 debut Landscapes, which earned her a nomination for Americana Artist of the Year at the 2022 Boston Music Awards. No Depression says “Comparisons to Elton John and Brandi Carlile are easy — DeSilva clearly takes a page from these idols, anchoring [her] songs in pop melody juggernauts, gauzy textures, and vocal bravado.” Nashville Scene named her a 2023 Artist To Watch, saying “DeSilva could inject new life into a genre that could definitely use a little more pretzel logic.” SOCIAL MEDIA: @hoolyjchan / @jessyedmusic Presented by The Rockwell Timeline: DOORS: 7:00 PM SHOW: 8:00 PM Age Limit: This event is All Ages ID: Valid ID required for Alcohol Consumption/Entry Start Time: Performances will begin no later than 15 minutes after stated show time.
